“The sound of tireless voices is the price we pay for the right to hear the music of our own opinions.” ~Adlai Stevenson
Today is July 4th, the birthday of the United States of America. The day our forefathers signed the Declaration of Independence and we became a free country. This got me thinking about what freedom really means. I realized that what I’m doing right now by typing up this blog post is exactly that. As simple as it may seem, this blog is my way of practicing one of our biggest freedoms, if not the biggest… freedom of speech. I can say what I want, when I want, how I want to and it’s all out there for anyone and everyone to see.
Everyone in this great nation and all around the world can read my blog and I won’t be punished by our legal system. This is true for me and everyone else out there, in the U.S., who blogs, publishes a book, writes editorial or in any way announces their thoughts and opinions to the world. I read today that there are 160 million blogs out there! So much freedom being practiced, it’s music to my ears.
